As the rapid development of LED display technology, more and more LED display and full-color displays were applied in all walks of life. To know about LED display, Let’s start with its technical terms.

1.Brightness. Light emitting diode brightness usually expressed with luminous intensity whose unit is candela (cd). 1000ucd =1 mcd, 1000mcd=1 cd. Usually, the brightness of one single indoor LED is 500ucd-50 mcd and for one outdoor LED is 100 mcd-1000 mcd or even over 1000mcd.

2.LED pixel module. LED was arranged in matrix or stroke segment to pre-make into standard module. Indoor LED display usually adopts 8*8 pixel module, 8 byte 7 segments digital module. As for outdoor display, 4*4、 8*8、8*16 pixel module were used often. In pixel module for outdoor display, every pixel was composed by two LED pipe harness.

3.Pixel and pixel diameter. Every individual controllable LED emitting unit in the LED display was called pixel. ∮means the diameter of every pixel and the unit is mm.

4.Resolution. LED screen pixel ranks number was called the resolution. Resolution decides the information capacity of display. 

5.Gray scale. Gray scale refers to the pixel changing of light and darkness. Generally, the gray scale of one color ranges from 8 to 12 level. For example, the gray scale of every color is 256 level, for double-color display, the color is 256×256=64K colors. So the double-color display was also called 256 colors display.

6.Double-color. Nowadays, most of LED displays are double-color display which means every pixel has 2 LED chips, red chip and green chip. When red chip lights, the pixel is red, when green chip lights, the pixel is green and when both light, the pixel is yellow. So the red and green are called basic colors.

7.Full color. Three colors red, green and blue together compose RGB full color. Thanks to the mature technic of blue chip and green chip, full color can be used widely.
